Darth Legacy

"Darth Legacy" is a short story I made using the chronicler system. It is available from the vendor located at L'Usine (Europe-Chimaera).

Notes: This story elaborates on the CorSec Database H-Z (here), which gives the following information: The “Maulers” are non-Force Sensitive group of cunning assassins and cruel thugs who follow the teachings of Darth Maul: Might makes right! They inhabit an area on Naboo that was once inhabited by peaceful Naboo philosophers. Now the area around their secret hideout lies in smoking ruins, where Maulers plan their planet wide criminal activities.

I have added the reference to Dun Möch, from the preprogrammed sentenced NPCs use at random during fights (see complete list of Mauler’s sneers and jibes). Although Darth Maul does not have referenced use of it, he suffered from it on several occasions from Darth Sidious and it seems entirely possible given his body language during fights that he could have made use of it. It also refers to the taunting ability brawlers early learn in their practice (Star Wars Galaxies, pre-CU, brawler profession, taunt ability, Sony Online Entertainment, for pre-CU skill trees, see here) and which fits with the idea of “cunning assassins” developing their arts.

Linking “Might is Right” to the Sith Code is a reference to the “power” sought in the Code and how the ability to be free or set free depending on which version of the Code one refers to, is also the one to edict for oneself and others what is “right”. More fundamentally, the use of “might” i.e. to increase potentiality is the underlying motivation of the Code and thus seemed to fit quite nicely there.

The “bootleg datadisc of Darth Maul’s fights” was a way to distance the Maulers from Darth Maul himself – especially since it is highly doubtful that he would have knowingly taught non-Force sensitives. The fights I refer to are mostly those that took place in the Theed Palace of Naboo or during the destruction of Vigo Garyn’s base. In both cases, surveillance devices would have recorded them. The bootleg quality of the datadisc refers to the fact that the Maulers were unlikely to have access to the original recordings. How they came about, is yet unknown. The twisted philosophical writings (of Evil philosophies) are an afterthought based on the assumption that datadics could hold vast amounts of information – one may assume that the writings are various theories on the nature of the “evil” or “badness”.

The Royal Security Forces [of Naboo] investigation this story alludes to is part of the Legacy missions undertaken by an anonymous spacer (“Stronghold Infiltration”, “Police Work”, “More Police Work”, Star Wars Galaxies, SOE), which puts the “Darth Legacy” some time afterwards. How the Alliance High Command was aware of the RSF investigation is left to be discovered, though, informants and spies for the Alliance are numerous and the fabled spacer’s allegiance is also unknown. Linking the AHC’s History Service to the investigation stems from the Alliance’s interest in Jedi lore (see my piece on that).
